Little Saviors
Today’s post is a quick overview of my Top 5 non-makeup beauty essentials for travel. These are the items I took with me on my recent trip, and they’re little lifesavers when I’m on the go. If you’re curious about the makeup I wore on the trip; please check out my previous post!
Keeping me zen
If you’re familiar with some of my past beauty post, you know I love face sprays. I have several in my collection, and I think they’re a beauty essential. On top of the fact that I’m a nervous flyer, I suffer from major motion sickness. I get sick on an escalator; all my friends make fun of me. I took a travel size of the Clinique Moisture Surge Face Spray because it’s one of my favorites; it’s very soothing and hydrating and when I’m feeling nauseous it helps tremendously.
It has tons of beneficial ingredients for the skin; my dry skin drinks it up. For a cheaper alternative, Mario Badescu has a great selection. If you’re a nervous flyer like me or have dry skin, you can’t go wrong with a good face spray.
Another travel essential for me is oil and not just any oil. The NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil. I swear by this stuff, and I have a full size at home. It’s truly a multipurpose product; you can use it on your hair, body, and face. I know many people are hesitant on using oil on their face, but it actually helps keep your skin balanced.
Being on a plane for 8 hours or more, my skin is left completely parched and this helps smooth any dry patches I may have. It’s also a dry oil so there’s no greasy residue left on the skin. I love to use it on my hair; it makes it look healthy and shiny and helps tame flyaways. And the scent is gorgeous!
No styling tool necessary
Speaking of hair, the OUAI Wave Spray has definitely become a travel essential for me. I’ve been testing it out for about two months and I decided to take it with me, and I’m so happy I did. I always have a hard time with my hair when I travel. I like to pack light and don’t want to bother with bringing a curling iron, the Wave Spray made my hair look good without it.
At first, I thought the reviews were all hype, but it does work. I have thick, coarse hair, and I need to use some kind of styling tool otherwise I look like a she-wolf. I spray some of it on damp hair after I shower at night, then blow dry a bit if there’s a hair dryer available in the room, and I put my hair up in a bun. The next day, I had natural beachy waves that didn’t feel stiff or crunchy. I was very pleased with the results. You low maintenance girls would love it; it’s going with me on my next trip!
Next, I took the Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix. I won’t go on too much about why I love it; I’ve written a full review, please give it a read if you’re interested. The main reason why I took it with me is because it’s wonderful for tired eyes. It contains cucumber extract, chamomile, and caffeine. It perks up and soothes the eye area.
My eyes need some TLC when I travel, and this product delivers. I know many of you don’t like the applicator. And yes I would prefer a pump, but the product works, so I don’t mind.
Don’t forget lip balm
And finally, a good lip balm is a must for me. My pick is the Eucerin Aquaphor Lip Repair. It’s a solid no-nonsense lip balm. My lips are shredded when I travel, even when I’m not traveling they’re in horrible condition. It delivers moisture and repairs chapped lips quickly. It doesn’t feel sticky or heavy at all, it just comfortable and effective. I always take this with me when I travel, and I highly recommend it.
