I’m obsessed with YouTube and my favorite videos to watch besides to tutorials are tags. I love the old school ones like the 8 Most Worn Things Tag – YouTube and I go way back. I thought it would be fun to incorporate some of these tags into my blog from time to time. And because I’m a total lip product junkie, I had to do the Lip Product Addict Tag. This tag was created by Amelia Liana and Estée Lalonde, both have great personalities and are so fun to watch. Now Ready, Set, Tag!
1. Favorite balm/treatment?
Like everyone else, I intend to cheat and pick more than one for each category. My picks are the NUXE Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm and Aquaphor Lip Repair. Rêve de Miel is a great lip balm; it’s ultra-rich, soothing and has a thick consistency. I use this at night before bed and my lips feel soft and nourished in the morning. The Aquaphor Lip Repair has been a favorite for years. I suffer from very dry, chapped lips and this is the only product that gives me instant relief. It repairs my lips and costs less than 4 dollars. There’s one in my bag, one on my nightstand; I pretty much have them all over my home. If I had to pick between NUXE Rêve de Miel and the Aquaphor Lip Repair, the Aquaphor wins hands down.
2. Best eye-catching red?
Easy, the NARS Pure Matte Lipstick Terre De Feu. This is my favorite red. Nars describes it as a Black Cherry. It’s a deep, rich berry red but not too dark or vamp. It kind of reminds of the poison apple from Snow White. I’m over thinking, I know. Personally, I prefer cool blue-toned reds, I tend to not reach for orange-based reds that much. This color is perfect. The Nars Pure Matte lipsticks have a great formulation. They contain Mango Butter, Vitamin E and Açai Oil, which makes them very moisturizing.
3. Best luxury & best drugstore?
Best luxury goes to Tom Ford. All the colors are beautiful. They have awesome pigmentation and formulation and the packaging is phenomenal. These feel so comfortable on the lips and they’re long lasting. They are expensive but in my opinion, the quality of the lipsticks matches the price tag. I’m very lucky to have four, my husband is not amused but I would definitely buy more if could. The one downside is their shelf life; if you’re planning on buying one of these make sure you get your money’s worth and use it regularly. Another luxury option is Burberry; they make wonderful lipsticks.
Best Drugstore goes to Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick. Like Tom Ford lipsticks, the texture of these lipsticks is amazing. These contain Vitamins A, C, and E, which makes them hydrating. They also have a great range of colors. My favorite shade is Let’s Get Naked, it’s very similar to Tom Ford Spanish Pink – Wink Wink.
4. Best MAC lipstick?
This was tough but I’m going with Midimauve. I feel this lipstick doesn’t get talked about much. This is my third tube and I’m almost out. MAC describes this as Rosy Mauve with Pearl; it actually pulls more purple than rosy on me. I think Kylie Jenner fans would love this. And of course I couldn’t just pick one. Syrup is my second favorite. This is such a flattering plummy everyday shade. Both of these are a Lustre finish.
5. The most disappointing?
My most disappointing is the Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in 65 Cavaliere. I wanted to love this but it didn’t work for me. I adore the color; it’s a deep brown plum shade. The problem is the glittery texture. It shredded my lips. I also had a bad reaction from the formula. It made my lips itchy so I stopped using it all together. I even got some fallout from this lipstick. Eyeshadow fall out I understand but lipstick fall out? Not so much.
6. Liner – yes or no?
MAC Lip Liners
YES YES YES. MAC has the best lip liners in my opinion. They offer a huge shade selection and last long. My two favorites are Subculture and Spice.
7. Best gloss?
My best gloss unfortunately has been discontinued but I think it’s still worth mentioning. It’s Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Lip Gloss in Wild Orchid. This is gorgeous and not sticky; Wild Orchid is a hot pink with blue shimmer. To describe it in one word it’s Sexy. Estee Lauder: Please bring Wild Orchid back! Some other faves that haven’t been discontinued (knock on wood) are the Nars Lip Gloss in Super Orgasm and the Larger Than Life Lip Gloss in Como. Como is a gorgeous berry shade that would flatter any skin tone. Super Orgasm is my most eye catching lip gloss.
8. Something extra!
Absolutely! The YSL Vernis À Lèvres Glossy Stains. These are a lipstick, gloss and stain hybrid. I love them because they’re super lightweight and comfortable on the lips. And you can build them up for more an intense look. My favorites are 7 Corail Aquatique and 108 Violine Out Of Control. And finally, the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils. My favorite is Sex Machine; I’m on my second tube.
