Oh My Posh

Review | Victoria Beckham Beauty

Hi everybody! I hope you’re keeping healthy and safe. Today I have a review on some makeup items from Victoria Beckham Beauty. I love Victoria Beckham and been eyeing her beauty brand for months. When she announced the company would be donating 20% of their net sales to Feeding America, I thought there’s no time like the present. I hope they’re continuing to do this, though I believe it was for a limited time.

Makeup has taken a back seat for me since the pandemic started. Of course, I still love makeup; I just haven’t been wearing it much and feeling down. So I sat on the products until I was able to provide a thorough review. Also, my blog is a hobby; it’s something I do for enjoyment. And although a few companies have been generous and sent me products to try, that’s not the norm. I create content when I feel good because it’s not a business for me. Enough with the long intro nobody asked for and on with the review…

Mink

The item I purchased pre-quarantine was the Lid Lustre in Mink (5g /$36.00) and wore it a great deal. Victoria Beckham stated lid Lustres were “inspired by the healing and protective power of the crystal.” And Mink infused with Tigers Eye. I don’t know ’bout that; I will say it’s a stunning shade! It’s a taupe brown with silver and gold pearl and gives off this oil slick eye look that’s wicked.

I wore it for two evening events and received compliments galore. Even my husband, who tells me I’m beautiful but is not vocal about my makeup, said how much he liked how it looked on my eyes.

The only downside with this product is the fallout. Yes, there’s fallout. Don’t believe VB when she says there’s not. And I’ve reached a point with eye makeup that I refuse to deal with fallout. However, this shade is so gorgeous; I had to experiment and figure out a way to make it work.

First, I used a brush and got major fallout, this is clearly a fingers only product. A good sticky primer is a must; the MAC Prep + Prime 24 Hour Extend Eye Base works well. There was a tiny amount of sparkle left on my cheeks, but I used Washi Tape to remove it. Longevity wise, the shadow stayed on throughout the evening. If I had to pick, I say this is my favorite product from the lot.

Bordeaux

Review | Victoria Beckham Beauty

If you’re looking to buy one item from the line, I recommend the Satin Kajal Liner in Bordeaux (1.2 g/$26.00). This is one of the best eyeliners I’ve ever used. It’s creamy and pigmented. And it doesn’t transfer when I use it on the waterline or tightline, and that’s rare. It’s a super smooth formula; there’s no tugging whatsoever. Once it sets, it stays put. Now I don’t have oily eyelids, so I’m not sure how this would perform under different circumstances. Overall, I’m impressed.

What I love most is the versatility. It comes with a smudger, which I use. I glide it on the lash line, smudge it a little, and I’m left with this cool effortless eye look. Bordeaux is a rich wearable matte burgundy. In the end, what is wearable anyway? My point is I would rock this to work any day.

Silk

Victoria Beckham Smoky Eye Brick in Silk

I had so much fun playing with the Smoky Eye Brick in Silk (8.5 g/$54.00). First the packaging, it’s A h m a z i n g! It’s stunning, luxurious, and I love the compact size. I wish they would have gone one step further and given us a refillable compact. A refill system similar to what Kjaer Weis has in place would have been ideal and much more sustainable.

Tweed is my kind of color story, and the simplicity of the Signature eye brick drew me in as well. I regret not purchasing those, but in the end, I chose Silk. The colors are alluring, and I love bronze on the eyes. If you like mattes, you may want to skip this one because all four shades are shimmery. Linen is probably my most used, and I appreciate that it’s the largest shade in the quad. I have hooded, deep-set eyes, and I gravitate towards colors that provide luminosity. MAC Shroom fans, this is for you!

From left to right: Linen (light champagne), Sunbeam (true yellow gold), Sandal (deep red brown), Copper (true bronze)

Silk is a neutral quad, although the Copper shade is a bit on the warmer side. These colors would work beautifully on any skin tone. The formula is lovely, the shadows are buttery soft and infused with a Hyaluronic Acid Powder Complex, not bad. I recommend using a primer, but these shadows are easy to blend almost mistake proof. They perform well; they’re pigmented shimmer shades. My one criticism is that there was more of a shade contrast between Sunbeam and Copper. They’re different colors, but serve the same purpose. I wish Copper was a little deeper.

Overall, I enjoy this palette, and I’m going to reach for it often. You’ll see it in action in a future favorites post!
