My New Favorite Cocktail
Today I have another review for you, this time it’s a skincare product I’ve been testing out for a few months. I purchased the Lumene Arctic Berry Cocktail Brightening Hydra-Oil (1 oz/$19.89), yes the name is quite a mouthful. Before using this product, I’ve never heard of brand Lumene; this is the only item I’ve tried from the line. Lumene is available in Target, Amazon, and CVS. Please keep in mind I’m not a licensed dermatologist, this review is based on my experience.
What it Does
The Arctic Berry Cocktail Brightening Hydra-Oil is a unique bi-phase hydra-oil that helps enhance radiance and replenishes dry skin with a blend of Arctic cloudberry and cranberry seed oils with a vitamin cocktail of C, B3 and B5, omega fatty acids and pure Arctic spring water. This product is for normal to dry skin.
Ingredients
The full list of ingredients are available on the Lumene website, you will find them here. Here are few that stood out to me.
- Arctic Cloudberry. According the Lumene, “the Cloudberry is the most nutritious of the wild berries.” It contains Vitamin A, which helps protect the skin against the signs of aging. It’s also high in Vitamin C which is essential for protecting the skin from sun damage as well as boost collagen production.
- Pure Arctic Spring Water is gentle on the skin and acts as a hydration booster.
- Cranberry Seed Oil is full of good nutrients like Vitamin A and E which help protect the skin from environmental stressors. It’s also rich in Omega fatty acids which helps hydrate the skin and promotes a healthier complexion.
- Avocado Oil contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents that heal the skin and maintain its strength and elasticity.
Why I wanted to try it
I wanted to incorporate Vitamin C back into my skincare routine. For years I used the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster, which is a Vitamin C serum and while it provided a nice glow, it didn’t do much for dryness or dehydration. I decided to hold off from repurchasing and try to find a product that would brighten my skin while giving me the hydration I needed. It took some time, but I finally found it.
Review
After doing some research and saw that reviews on the Hydra-Oil were more positive than negative, I figured I give it a try. My first impression was that it seemed like an interesting product. I was intrigued by the Arctic Cloudberry, and never used anything like it. It’s affordable at $20.00 (prices may vary depending on where you buy it), and it comes in a glass bottle with a pump.
According to the website, you can use this oil both day or night, personally, I’ve been using it at night immediately after cleansing. You have to shake before use; once the product is mixed together, it kind of looks like watermelon juice. I use two pumps for my face, neck, and décolletage. I’m very pleased with the results. The oil feels light and soaks into my skin without leaving any oily or greasy residue; my skin has a radiant glow the very next day.
I haven’t experienced any irritation or flaking; my skin feels ultra smooth and hydrated after every use. For science, I decided to go a week without moisturizer to see if I get the same hydration with this alone, and I was impressed. That said, I’m not giving up my Clinique Moisture Surge Intense, but the Hydra-Oil gets an A+ for hydration.
This product contains fragrance; you may want to proceed with caution if you’re sensitive. Personally, I don’t find it offensive, and it hasn’t affected my skin negatively. I’ve had skincare from Chanel and Guerlain that were much more overpowering. Overall, I love this product, and I highly recommend it. My skin looks brighter and healthier. I look forward to trying other skincare from the line!
