Pretty in pink…
…even in October.
Hi everybody! Long time no blog. I took a few weeks off; My husband and I went to Cuba which was very exciting. My family is from Cuba, and my husband was born there as well. I was able to visit my grandparent’s house where my mom was born. This was my first trip to the island, so there were definitely some tears. I was overwhelmed by how beautiful Cuba is. The people, the food, the architecture, and although the majority of the old buildings are falling apart you can still see their beauty.
We plan on going back soon, and I have a few travel posts in mind for the future. For now, let’s talk about the beauty products I’ve loved this month!
Body Hero
My Glossier Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream (8.4 Oz/$22.00) is on its last leg. I love body creams and lotions. My skin is extremely dry, and I want my body to be hydrated and smooth all the time. This gets the job done. It has a rich consistency, and it gives my skin the right amount of hydration without leaving it tacky. Although I prefer gourmand fragrances, Body Hero has a lovely light floral scent. It gives your skin a nice sheen too!
Free Soul
If you like blushes with luminosity, the NARS Highlighting Blush in Free Soul (0.16 oz/$30.00) is for you. I skip highlighter altogether when I use this blush. I discovered it through Nadine Baggott. She’s used it a few times in tutorials, and it looked stunning on her. It’s a light pink shimmer; it’s quite delicate and doesn’t look like much in the pan yet it adds a beautiful glow.
Lately, I’ve been using it as a highlighter alone because it’s easy to mix with different blush shades. I believe this was limited edition. I was able to find it on the NARS website, and they had more last time I checked. It’s gorgeous; I highly recommend it!
Beauty by POPSUGAR kindly sent me a package with a lovely note congratulating me on my blog; it was very sweet. They sent me four of their Sweet Stx Satin Matte Lip Colors (0.08oz/$20.00) to try out, all beautiful colors. They did not pay me to talk about them; I needed to mention it because I’ve been enjoying them especially the shades So Fine and After Midnight.
I’m a young blogger, and when companies take a chance on me, I do like to take my time and thoroughly test the product. The finish of these are similar to the NARS Satin Lip Pencils, and the packaging is identical to the Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo, and they’re a cheaper alternative too. However, you get a bit more product in the Hourglass.
The formula is very creamy; the color goes on sheer at first and you can build up. The reviews on Ulta were mixed; it’s not the most hydrating formula I’ve tried, but it’s not the worst either. I love the shade range, and how it easy it is to throw one in my bag and touch up throughout the day.
Black Sugar
Straight from the polish archives, the Tom Ford Nail Lacquer in Black Sugar (0.41oz/$37.00) is my current obsession. Black Sugar is unique shade; it’s a dark reddish brown, and it has a ruby shimmer running through the bottle that I can’t seem to pick up on the nails. You may be able to spot it under bright sunlight.
The color reminds me of toasted brown sugar. I just love chocolaty shades for fall; it’s modern and sophisticated, and it’s definitely on heavy rotation along with the other picks from my Fall Edit.
Everyday Essentials
Finally, I picked up the Real Techniques Everyday Essentials ($19.99) brush set. If you’re new to Real Techniques, this is where to start. This set will give you the best of the best brushes from their line. For $20 bucks it comes with the 400 Blush brush, 300 Deluxe Crease brush, 402 Setting brush (my favorite), 200 Expert Face brush, and their Miracle Complexion Sponge, which I tried for the first time and I’m enjoying.
If you already own these brushes and they’re looking a little haggard; I suggest replacing them with this set, or even just to have backups. The new packaging is stunning; I adore the colors. The older versions have a rubberized handle, which gets dirty easily. The handles on these brushes are much smoother. They still have a good grip, and the quality feels better overall. LOVE them!
So, what are your current favorites?
Thanks for sharing your favourites. The popsugar lip products look so great and easy to apply & wear. Love the colours, perfect for autumn!
