Tome 1 La Pureté for Her Eau de Parfum (€63/50ml) has been on my wish list for a year. I purchased this at the Zadig & Voltaire store in Madrid when I vacationing there this May. First the packaging, I give it an A+. Come on, a shopping bag with skulls and doughnuts? I’m sold! The actual bottle comes inside what appears to be a book with a note by Thomas A’Kempis on the first page. This is going on my bookshelf next to my copy of Wuthering Heights and The Collected Poems of William Butler Yeats. I really appreciate the attention to detail here, it’s thoughtful and sweet and at the same time minimal and cool. Now on to the juice inside…
Top notes: Orange blossom, bergamot, and peony
Middle notes: Almond milk, tonka bean, and jasmine tea
Base notes: Guaiac wood and white musk
Tome 1 La Pureté is powerful and distinctive. It’s also a bit masculine which I personally love. I prefer deep, intense fragrances because they’re more memorable and this one is certainly not forgettable. I’ve worn this baby non-stop and received compliments from both men and women. This last ages on my skin. The longevity of this fragrance is outstanding. It’s not an easy scent to describe but I pick up on the Bergamot and Tonka bean and that smooth creamy component from the Almond Milk.
Zadig and Voltaire also offer a men’s version of this fragrance, Tome 1 for Him but Tome 1 La Pureté for Her is quite unisex. This has to be a unique perfume in my collection. I have nothing like it. Unfortunately, it’s not so easy to come by but if you have a Zadig & Voltaire store near you stop by and give it a sniff. It’s a winner for me!
