Au naturel
Happy Sunday everybody! Today I’m sharing my picks for a natural, minimal makeup look. I’ve managed to narrow it down to just seven products, and yes it was hard. The inspiration for this post was Christina Aguilera’s Paper Magazine cover. I love Christina Aguilera; her voice is exquisite, and like the rest of the world, I was blown away by the cover and her makeup-free look.
It goes to show what a natural beauty she is and it got me thinking about fresh and natural makeup. This look takes me less than 5 minutes, and I love the results. Let’s go through the products!
Skin first
It’s easy to go foundation-less when you have good skin. There’s no question that my skin looks better when it’s hydrated. I pile on the moisturizer regardless because I have very dry skin. A good tip if you’re going makeup-free is to use a hydrating mask the night before.
I love the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask. Yes, it’s ridiculously expensive but worth every penny in my opinion. When I use it at night, my skin looks radiant the next day. I’m going on vacation in a week, and you best believe I’m taking a sample of this stuff with me. It’s a savior if you’re on a long haul flight because it immediately hydrates and smooths the skin.
I’ve talked about the Becca First Light Priming Filter Face Primer many times on my blog. It has mixed reviews, but I love how this makes my skin look. Personally, I can’t stand the scent, but I can overlook it because it gives such a beautiful soft focus glow to my skin. It perks up and brightens dull skin. I feel like I can skip foundation all together.
Stripped
To cover any blemishes, I use the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Honey. You know I love the Glossier Stretch Concealer, but I find the Nars has better coverage for spot concealing. I place a few dots under my eyes, around my nose and mouth blend with a brush and I’m out the door. It’s long wearing, and it’s not drying which is a big plus.
Blush is mandatory; I rather have blush than bronzer or highlighter. And because I’m getting some sheen from my primer, it’s easy to skip that step. My go-to blush for a fresh, natural look is MAC’s Ladyblush. I believe MAC has discontinued their cream blushes. Wtf MAC?
Don’t sweat it because Stila has an incredible line of cream blushes. The Stila Convertible Color in Lillium is pretty much identical. I love this color because it has a hint of bronze and gives a fresh, healthy glow to the cheeks. No bronzer needed.
For eyeliner, I opted for a gold or champagne color. It helps open the eyes and make them look bright and awake. I recommend the & Other Stories Eye Pencil in Khaki Naquet or MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl. Any gold eyeliner will due really.
Then pick your favorite mascara. Currently, I’m loving the Maybelline Total Temptation Mascara. It’s really lengthening and gives the lashes a fluttery look. Mascara is non-negotiable for me.
Soft and Supple Lips
Finally for lips, if you’re really going minimal just put on a lip balm and call it a day. I chose a lipgloss; this one is an old favorite the Bite Beauty Lipgloss in Currant. It gives a plump, juicy sheen to the lips. I recommend picking a lipgloss or lipstick that matches the natural color of your lips. I hate to say ‘your lips but better‘ but that’s what I was going for.
Thank you so much for reading. Hopefully, this inspires you to strip down your makeup routine for the warmer months ahead. I’m working on a Summer Edit, stay tuned for that. Also, I’m taking a few weeks off to travel. Please follow me on Instagram to see photos!
So what’s your favorite Xtina song? Mine is a tie between Walk Away and You Lost Me. What can I say? I love a good torch song.
Wow, I didn’t even recognize her on the cover! Great post. That MAC blush looks gorgeous on you!
