a.k.a Where can I get some fish & chips?
London is one of my favorite places to visit. I’ve been lucky to have traveled there three times. Each time was better than the last; I always have fun there. I plan on doing an in-depth post about London soon. In the meantime, I have two restaurant recommendations for you! One has a casual feel, and the other has a killer view. And I do mean killer.
Bumpkin
We like to say in Stratford City when we go to London. It’s far from the main tourist sites, but they have an incredible transportation system that can get you anywhere you want in a flash. There’s also Westfield mall for you shopaholics. One night after a long day exploring Chelsea, we wanted to relax and have a hot meal near our hotel. We stumbled upon Bumpkin. Quirky name and all, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and thoroughly unpretentious.
We ordered the Steamed Mussels and the Beer Battered Haddock and Chips. The fish and chips were tasty, it was crispy and not greasy. For dessert, we had the Warm Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was delicious! I love that they only use local and seasonal ingredients, and the prices are affordable.
Darwin Brasserie in Sky Garden
You have no idea how happy I am that my husband found this place on our last trip. The Darwin Brasserie is one of the restaurants located in Sky Garden where you can see a panoramic view of London.
To be perfectly frank, we just went for the view, but I was happily surprised to find the food was just as impressive. We ordered the Beef Carpaccio, the Handmade Beef Burger, and the Sea Bass. The food was scrumptious. The dessert was the best part, it was phenomenal. A Raspberry Pudding with Meringue and salted caramel ice cream, sweet salty goodness.
Overall the ambiance is cool and romantic, and the rooftop view will stop your heart. I will say the reviews for Darwin Brasserie are mixed, but we had a lovely time and we enjoyed the food. I thoroughly recommend it!
If you have any restaurant recommendations, please leave them below. I’m always looking for new places to dine!
