Cruella is back
Hi everybody, I hope you and your family are safe and staying healthy. March was a scary month, to say the least, we’re living in uncertain and devastating times. It feels odd to post beauty favorites because, for the past three weeks, I haven’t worn makeup. For the exception of lip balm, no makeup at all since working from home. I was on a low-buy towards the end of 2019, and last month officially graduated to a no-buy. I’m still skincare happy, but mainly I’m letting my skin and nails breathe, letting my hair be, and it feels good.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take advantage of any of the beauty sales in March. It’s such a strange feeling; I honestly haven’t been in the mood. It didn’t feel like the right time for me to purchase makeup. Does anyone else feel this way? Please let me know.
For now, I will continue to shop my stash, but there’s a wishlist that’s growing fast. I love makeup and look forward to creating more beauty related content. In the meantime, because I didn’t post February favorites, I thought I’d offer some distraction, and show you the beauty products I loved that month along with some fun extras. Some of these products overlapped in early March.
It really works
I have to tell you about Color Wow Root Cover-Up. I discovered this product through Sandra, and she was right – it works. It’s not magic or a miracle-worker, but it helps with covering gray hairs at the temples. Right now, I’m not dying my roots often, only once a month. I use it with a light hand and build. Keep in mind it’s not an eyeshadow. There are no stains on the pillowcase, no fading throughout the day. So far, so good!
I’ve been loving Nails Inc Polish in Anti-Decision Maker; it’s a gorgeous powder blue. You would think this color would be better suited for spring, but I wore it all winter. And it’s perfect for the spring and summer months as well. This shade is so eye-catching, and I’ve had great luck with Nails Inc polishes. This one stays on my nails for a full week.
Makeup
One of the newer makeup items in my collections is the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush in Pink. I didn’t get a chance to purchase this blush when it first came out, so I was very excited to see Dior brought them out again. This one comes in smaller packaging, and it doesn’t come with a brush, which I prefer. It’s a lovely baby pink shade. It looks very cool in the pan; once it’s on the skin, it gives off a natural-looking flush. There’s a tiny hint of shimmer; the powder is finely milled and blends beautifully. It’s the only blush I’ve worn to work. It just lights up my face.
In late January I got reacquainted with the Tom Ford Eye Defining Pen (01 Deeper). First, do you need to spend this much a liquid liner? No. I have to tell you I don’t regret the purchase. My eyeliner skills are so not on point; I suck at liquid liner. This eyeliner makes life easier. I love that it’s dual-ended, and it’s easy to control the thickness of the line. It stays on all day and doesn’t flake. I love how black it is and how easy it glides on.
The Look
Forgotten Favorite
Finally, I decided to continue featuring forgotten beauty favorites. The NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella is back. This has to be my all-time favorite red. Every time I wear it, I receive compliments without fail. It’s a stunning shade of red. I’ve talked about Cruella a few times, but all the Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are fantastic. They’re so intensely pigmented, easy to use, and feel so comfortable on the lips. I forget I even have it on. #classic
Eve and Tingting
My favorite show of the month is Killing Eve. Where the hell have I’ve been? So thankful to my friend Bea for recommending it. I have an unhealthy obsession with Villanelle. If you haven’t seen Killing Eve, you need to. Do it now! Also, I’m loving Tingting’s ASMR videos. I was skeptical at first, but if you’re having trouble relaxing or sleeping, give Tingting a try; she such a beautiful, calming presence.
