Got Milk?

Review | Milk Makeup

Hi guys! I purchased a few bits from Milk Makeup, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you. It might seem that I’m super late to the party, but I like to take my time and do research on a brand and their products before I pull the trigger.

Just a little background on Milk before I begin. Their products are cruelty-free, paraben-free, and 100% vegan. What intrigued me the most was their creativity and innovation. They’re environmentally friendly, and I appreciate their philosophy on easy makeup for the girl or boy on the go. Many of their products are multi-purpose which I love, and fuss-free so brushes are optional.

The Benefits of Kush

Given all the hype surrounding Milk’s Kush line, I had to pick up the Kush Fiber Brow Gel (0.15oz/$18.00). I chose the shade Grind which is the darkest offered in the range. Hemp-derived CBD Oil is quite beneficial to the skin. It’s full of nutrients like vitamin E that help protect and nourish the skin. Here they’ve replaced the beeswax normally found in brow products with cannabis oil to condition the hair. This formula also contains tinted heart-shaped fibers which provide a fuller look to the brows.

I love the thought behind the packaging. It dispenses the perfect amount of product. There’s a great stopper in the tube to remove any excess product, with other brow gels I end up having to wipe it away. I like being able to build up if I choose to, not have this giant glob of product in the beginning. The brush is small and tapered at the end, so you’re able to get into those tiny spots. If you have sparse brows, I think you will enjoy this formula.

Personally, I’m a big fan! I have extremely difficult brows; they’re thick and unruly. You know the saying, “They’re sisters, not twins?” Well, mine are sisters that hate each other. You mean all this time we could have been friends? #BabyJaneHudson

What I want in a brow gel is not so much for it to fill my brows, but to keep the hairs groomed and in place. The Kush Fiber Brow does that for me. It didn’t make my bows stiff or hard, and it didn’t flake throughout the day.

Kush Vs. Boy

Everyone wants to know how it compares to Glossier’s Boy Brow. The brushes are similar; however, the formula is very different. For me, I like both and will continue to purchase them both. I like them for different reasons, and they offer different results. The Glossier gel is wonderful for that fast, bushy boy brow as the name suggests. The Kush provides a lot more hold and tames my hairs much better. In terms of performance, if I really had to choose I pick Kush, but it doesn’t win by much.

Kush Lashes

Milk Makeup Kush High Volume Mascara

Next, the Kush High Volume Mascara (0.34oz/$24.00). I didn’t purchase this mascara; it came as a deluxe sample with my order. However, I’ve been testing it along with the other two items and wanted to share my thoughts on it as well. I LOVE the brush; it’s the kind of brush I gravitated towards. It’s a solid, old-fashioned mascara brush with lots of bristles to comb through the lashes. It makes my lashes look ultra full and fans them out nicely. You will definitely get volume with this mascara.

Unfortunately, it gave me fall out. I’ve used all kinds of mascaras from drugstore to high-end and never really had this problem. By 1:00 pm I had tiny speckles of black under my eyes. Funny enough, I didn’t experience that with the brow gel. Sadly, the mascara fell a bit short for me. It’s a shame because I really love the effect.

Time for a Quickie

My favorite item has to be the Lip + Cheek Color in Quickie (1oz/$24.00). Quickie is a rich berry shade. It looks dark and scary, but it sheers out to a very natural color. It’s formulated with mango butter and avocado oil making it ultra hydrating and light and comfortable on the skin.

I dot a tiny bit on my cheeks and blend with my fingers. You can build it up for a more intense color. This product will give you Baby Cheeks. You know how babies look when they’ve just woken up from a nap; their cheeks look rosy and healthy, this will give you that exact look.

The packaging is clever; I love that it’s easy and convenient. You can just throw it in your bag and touch up throughout the day. I’ve been eyeing the Jillian Dempsey Lid Tints for awhile, and I wondered if this could work in a similar way. I put a little on my lids and was happy with the results.

What I love most is the versatility. I’m able to use it in a multitude of ways, and if I’m in a rush or running late for work, this is the product I reach for. The formula lasts all day on me, I do touch up my lips, but other than that it has great lasting power. You don’t need to be concerned about fragrance; it smells clean and non-offensive to me. I prefer to use it on my cheeks more than my lips. I love a nice berry blush in the fall, so I’m going to get a lot of use out of it in the upcoming months.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I’m impressed with the products! I also want to mention if you’re a new customer, you can get 15% off your first order with a code. Please note I purchased these items myself. Looking back, I regret not picking up something from their skincare line. Now that I see how well these two items performed, I’m much more inclined to give their skincare a go.

So have you tried MILK? If yes, what are your thoughts?
