Review | Diptyque Eau Rose

Diptyque Eau Rose

This will be my first ever fragrance post so I like to start by saying that I’m a total perfume junkie. I love perfume and own a few, not much compared to most beauty bloggers but I definitely have way more than I need. I just can’t help myself. For years I had my signature and all time favorite fragrance that I still wear to this day: Classique by Jean Paul Gaultier. In recent years I felt like exploring other options and now it’s become a bit of an obsession. I honestly don’t feel perfume has an age. I love both youthful and mature fragrances. I wear what I like, end of story.

I have to say I’m a total nerd when it comes to selecting a perfume to buy. I take my time; I study the notes carefully and I read tons of reviews. Perfume is my favorite beauty item to purchase; nail polish is my second favorite then lipstick, highlighters, and blush. Okay, I’ll stop. But when it comes to fragrance I always do my homework and I try not to blind buy. I’ve been guilty of this in the past and it’s usually a fail for me.

Personally, I’m not a fan of Rose and I don’t normally go for florals but this one is special. Enter Diptyque Eau Rose ($98/3.4oz)

Diptyque Eau Rose

Top notes: Bergamot, black currant, and lychee

Middle notes: Jasmine, geranium, and rose

Base notes: Musk, Virginia cedar, and white honey

I love the lychee in this; this scent is light and very feminine. It’s also young and fresh. Eau Rose is my first ever Diptyque fragrance. I picked up Eau Duelle prior to this and quickly returned it. I know there are a lot of fans of this scent out there but it just wasn’t for me. I really love Vanilla but to me, Eau Duelle smelled like pure incense. I’m talking Nag Champa, which is great for my home but not for my body. As all of Diptyque’s packaging, the bottle for Eau Rose is exquisite. And if you’re into Game of Thrones this would probably be the scent the ladies from the House of Tyrell would wear.

If you’re looking to invest in a Diptyque fragrance and you want a scent that is clean and crisp. That is not a sickly floral with a hint of fruitiness but not overly sweet, this is a good pick for you. I purchased mine at Nordstrom and if you’re torn like I was in the beginning, ask the person at the counter for some samples to try. This will help you decide which Diptyque scent is best suited for you. Want a good alternative? The Fresh Sugar Lychee Eau de Parfum is a great option and less expensive.

If you like Diptyque fragrances please let me know which is your favorite. Go ahead tempt me!
